This piece caught my eye, though I didn't know it was for a contest until I read the description. Congratulations on winning first place as well.
The light and dark tones of the colors, divided by the various shapes gives this piece a lot of charm. The contrast of the woman's red dress and hair work really well against the bright blue sky.
The variance of line thickness also works quite well. It gives some real definition to the many different parts of this piece.
Upon further inspection, I've also noticed a few hidden heart shapes which flow really well with the Valentine's Day theme.
Just so you know, this piece has been stolen and put for sale by art4love.com, I suggest you add it to the growing list of artists mentioned on a journal here: [link] `alexiuss is putting together a lawsuit versus the owner of this site.
